Top 10 Films and Animations Predominant Genre (BSA 106)

PREDOMINANT GENRE

Just like any other movies, each of them must have at least one predominant genre in each film. Last time I have posted my "TOP 10 MOST FAVORITE FILMS" and right now I'm going to show all of you what the predominant genres are:

1. AVATAR (2009)

Genre : Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-fi

Predominant Genre : Fantasy

Why is it fantasy?
Based on my opinion, fantasy is the most suitable predominant genre because most of the scenes and designs in the film are about fantasy creatures and planets, even though it tells about Sci-fi as well, but I think fantasy suits better with AVATAR.

2. THE HOBBIT : AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY (2012)

Genre : Adventure, Fantasy

Predominant Genre : Adventure

Why is it adventure?
Truthfully, I am quiet confused what to choose because I think adventure and fantasy are dominant in this film, none of them is more dominant. But finally, I chose adventure since most of the story tells us about Bilbo and his friend's journey.

3. THE HOBBIT : THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG (2013)

Genre : Adventure, Fantasy

Predominant Genre : Adventure

Why is it adventure?
Just like the first series of THE HOBBIT, the second series is just continuing their journey with obstacles in front of them.

4. THE HOBBIT : THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES (2014)

Genre : Adventure, Fantasy

Predominant Genre : Adventure

Why is it adventure?
The last series of THE HOBBIT was focusing on the war between the king, dwarfs, elfs, and orcs. So, I think adventure still the best predominant genre to describes this.

5. DAWN OF THE PLANETS OF THE APES (2014)

Genre : Action, Sci-fi, Thriller, Drama, Adventure

Predominant Genre : Action

Why is it action?
In my opinion, action is the predominant genre, but why? If we see the storyline, it tells us the story about the evolution of apes which has the same intellectual as human beings. And most of the scenes, apes and humans were fighting for their own tribes.

6. THE MAZE RUNNER (2014)

Genre : Young adult fiction, Sci-fi, Post-apocalyptic fiction

Predominant Genre : Post-apocalyptic fiction

Why is it post-apocalyptic fiction?
Firstly, this genre is not quiet familiar doesn't it? Post apocalyptic fiction is the combination between sci-fi and horror fiction. I can feel the horror sensation in the film especially after the characters are trapped inside the giant maze.

7. MAZE RUNNER : THE SCORCH TRIALS (2015)

Genre : Young adult fiction, Sci-fi, Post-apocalyptic fiction

Predominant Genre : Post-apocalyptic fiction

Why is it post-apocalyptic fiction?
The same as Hobbit, Maze runner has 3 series for the movies. But, the final series is going to be published probably on 2018. The second series is just the further development of the story.

8. JURASSIC WORLD (2015)

Genre : Action, Sci-fi, Thriller, Adventure

Predominant Genre : Thriller

Why is it thriller?
I am sure you know why thriller is the predominant genre in this movie. Most of the scenes illustrate how the dinosaur eat the humans and other living creatures that it managed to find out.

9. THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016)

Genre : Fantasy, Family, Drama, Adventure

Predominant Genre : Adventure

Why is it adventure?
When Mowgli was trying to escape from the wild animals in the forest, he still found a lot of obstacles towards him and with his friend, Seeonee, he managed to escape the dangers of the forest.

10. X-MEN APOCALYPSE (2016)

Genre : Action, Sci-fi, Superhero, Adventure, Fantasy

Predominant Genre : Superhero

Why is it superhero?
Just like the other superhero movies that tells us the story of how an organization managed to save the world from the villain.
