Animation History 1900-1905
After a short summary about "The Animation History" in ancient era, I would like to continue my notes about the history in early 1900s.
1. Segundo De Chomon
Segundo was born in Spain and grew up as a director, cameramen, and special effects director. He was incredibly talented and one of the pioneer in the film industry.
One of his movie, "The Electric Hotel" was a break trough in stop frame.
2. Alice Guy
Alice Guy came from France and she was an inventor of narrative films. She built her own studio named Gaumont Studio in France with the help of her employer. "The Cabbage Patch Fairy" (1896) was one of the film that she has directed. She used French style of humour and magic to enlighten the film and close up methods as well.
3. Edwin S. Porter
He was the director of "The Life of an American Firemen" on 1903 and originated from USA. There are several techniques that he used in order to made that film: close ups, medium & wide shots, staged sequences, used dissolve as transitions between scenes to suggest the passage time.
The other film that he directed was "The Great Train Robbery" which was released in 1903 as well. He used parallel editing and shots with different angles.
4. Winsor Mccay
He was an American cartoonist and made several animated film such as : "Little Nemo" (1911) and "How A Mosquito Operates" (1912).
5. Cecil M. Hepworth
Cecil came from England with his wife and little baby. He produced a short movie named "Rescued by Rover" in 1905 which told us a story about a baby that has been stolen and founded by a dog named Rover. It's quiet interesting actually. Not just producing the movie, he also wrote the scripts and played in the movie as well with his wife.
