Class Summary Animation History All Over The World (BSA 106)

 
Animation History Pre-1900
 
On Tuesday, 21st Feb 2017, we were given a knowledge about "The Animation History" by our tutor. There were two parts, the first one was the history before 1900 and the second one was the history after 1900s. Are you curious about what is it? Let' see!
 
1. The Oldest Among The Oldest
I know that the theme is quiet weird... But there were actually drawings and paintings that had exist before paper and pencil were found. We call it as "Cave Paintings". Cave Paintings were found around 40,000 years ago, when people still used caves as their homes. These are some of the photos:
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

2. Old Bowl from Iran and Greek Vase
This bowl has been exist since 5200 years ago... and this vase old is 400BC
3. Thaumatrope , Phenakistiscope, Zoetrope, Praxinoscope
 
Thaumatrope : Images on both side of cards can be seen together when spun
Phenakistiscope : Fisrt animation that is created to built up illusion
Zoetrope : Means "The Wheel of Life" producing sequence of drawings and move around
Praxinoscope : Almost similar as Zoetrope, but Praxinoscope uses a mirror in the middle of it 
 
4. Eadweard Muybridge
He created a photographic sequence of a running horse and he proved that there has to be one leg stay on the ground. Eadweard used 12 stereoscopic cameras at that time.

 






















5. Etienne-Jules Marley
He produced photography of humans and animals in motion and in 1882, he used his own invention, "The Chronophotographic gun". His invention could take 12 photos in one second.
 

6. Kineoscope
It was founded by Thomas Edison in 1888 and was developed later on by his em
ployee William Kennedy Dickson. Kineoscope could take 46 frames in a second.


 7. Cinematographe
It was invented by the Lumieres brothers in 1895. They shot their films for 16 frames per second and becoming the common frames for around 20 years.
